Every yes is also a no to something else. When you say yes to a request that does not matter, you are saying no to something that does. Your time and energy are finite. Protect them.
Before saying yes to anything, ask: does this align with my priorities? Does this move me toward what I want? If the answer is unclear or no, say no. You do not need to explain. A simple “I cannot commit to that right now” is enough.
Saying no gets easier with practice. The first few times feel uncomfortable. You worry about disappointing people. But over time, you realize that saying no to the wrong things makes you more available for the right things.
Practice saying no this week. When a request does not align with your priorities, decline it politely but firmly. Notice how much more energy you have for what truly matters when you protect your yes.
