Not all risks are equal. Some have limited downside and unlimited upside. Others have limited upside and unlimited downside. The asymmetry matters enormously.
Seek opportunities where failure costs little but success pays much. A book that takes six months to write might change your career. A conversation that takes five minutes might lead to your next job.
Avoid situations where the best case is modest and the worst case is catastrophic. The math does not favor those bets no matter how likely success seems.
What asymmetric opportunity is available to you?
