Before you begin work on anything, pause and ask: โ€œWhat does done look like?โ€ Not what you think it should look like, or what others expect, but what actually needs to be true for you to stop and move on.

This question cuts through assumptions. It reveals when you are solving the wrong problem. It shows you when good enough is actually good enough. Most of our wasted effort comes from not knowing when to stop.

Write the answer down. One sentence. โ€œDone looks likeโ€ฆโ€ This becomes your finish line. When you reach it, you are done. No extra polish. No additional features. Just done.

Try this today with your next task. Notice how much faster you move when you know where you are going, and how much clearer the work becomes when you know when to stop.
