Set a small scope. One page. One function. One section. Read it as if you are a stranger who respects their time. Where does your attention stumble. What repeats without adding strength. What feels almost right if given a cleaner edge.
Make one pass only. Mark the places. Cut the extra syllables. Rename the part that carries the wrong weight. Add one transitional line if a gap remains. Stop before the work dulls under too many hands.
When you return later, you will see more to do. That is normal. The edit you made today will have created room for a better one tomorrow. Respect that rhythm and the work will keep its life.
